6 Ways to Spend Galentine’s Day with Your Best Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Just to be clear, Galentine’s Day is not only for those girls who don’t have a boyfriend to spend the 14th with. It’s not some kind of act done to make ourselves feel better about the fact that we’re single (because obviously nothing’s wrong with that). It’s a day to celebrate the other relationships in our lives, specifically those of our best friends, which for many reasons we wouldn’t know what to do without them. Here are six ideas you might want to incorporate into your Galentine’s Day plans.

1.    Brunch

It’s no secret all girls like brunch. We don’t really ever need a reason to go, but being that there is, we might as well take advantage of it. It’s guaranteed to satisfy everyone. (Boozy brunch or not.)

2.    Send them a care package

Obviously you have friends from all over and you want them to know how much you care about them. Sending them a care package is the perfect way to let them know you’re thinking of them and that you haven’t forgotten all of their favorite treats or rom-com movies you would be watching with them if you were there. They will be beyond surprised and love showing it off to everyone.

3.    Decorate the apartment

So your roomies happen to be your best friends, that’s great! Go all out with red and pink deco, hearts and cheesy lines included. It’s always fun to see that everyone around you is as excited as you are. Allow the themed décor to get you in the spirit.

4.    Eat all the chocolate (and bake it too)

Like any holiday, there’s some kind of food involved. Just like there is no Thanksgiving without a turkey, there is no Valentine’s day without chocolate. Take no shame in indulging in the best of the best. I’m talking Godiva, Ghirardelli, Lindt, and more. Now is the time to #treatyoself. If you have the time to bake, definitely bake your chocolate into your cookies, brownies, and more.

5.    Spa day

Whether it’s DIY or you’re able to splurge for a nice, legit spa day (face masks and massages included), take the day to relax and really enjoy your time together. Maybe put your phones on silence too.

6.    Give old fashioned V-Day cards.

You know the kind you used to hand out in elementary school? Reminisce about your childhood and take joy in the silliness that is those corny compliments. It is, after all, the little things that count.
