The Best Makeup Dupes: Valentine’s Day Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

We all know how expensive makeup can be, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the stress of wanting to look extra flawless for your beau (or even just for yourself) can lead you to spending a ton of money on high-end makeup brands. Yes, we all know that the local drugstore sells the exact same products for a way cheaper price, but we don’t necessarily have the time to look up the best drug store dupes for high-end beauty products. No worries, luckily for all of you I have done all the research! Here you’ll find products that can make you look as good as Beyonce and JLo, but also save ton of money while doing so. Oh, and p.s., this year it’s all about that “glow from within” look, so you can skip the classic wing and red lip (if you want-of course), and do a flirty rosey-dewy look to change things up!

1) First, let’s talk about primers.

Benefit’s Porefessional Primer is literally heaven sent, but it is a bit pricey when comparing it to Maybelline’s BabySkin pore minimizing primer. I, a beauty expert, can guarantee you that this pore minimizing primer from Maybelline, will step up your makeup game AND save you some cash. This lovely skin perfector can be found at Target.

2) Foundation is definitely KEY when it comes to looking flawless all day/night long.

Mac Studio Fix foundation is definitely worth the $40, until you come across Milani’s Perfect and Conceal Foundation. This dupe is longwearing and mattifying, giving you the full coverage at less than half the price! Here’s where you can find it: Target

3) Lips

Now, I know how much we all wish we had those Kylie Jenner lips, therefore, making it almost impossible to resist purchasing every single Kylie lipkit; however, if you’re trying to ball on a budget, those lipkits may not be an option for you. This Valentine’s Day, try acheiving a glossy mauve lip with L’Oreal’s LA Palette/Lip. It has become a holy grail product for me because it comes with a range of eight nude-pinky lip shades for only $16. Here’s where you can find it: Ulta Beauty

4) Here comes my favorite part…HIGHLIGHT.

I don’t know what it is, but highlighter can take your makeup-game from 0 to 100. So many companies like Anastasia Beverly Hills, Ofra, and Mac Cosmetics make amazing highlighters. Seriously, the only bad thing about them is the price range. While most high-end highlighters cost anywhere between $25-$45 (or more), drugstore highlighters range from $8-$15. I recently found an amazing skin illuminator from Ulta Beauty in Pink Diamond that costs $10 and is extremely similar to Mac Cosmetics’s Mineralize Skinfinish in Porcelain Pink.  Here’s where you can find it: Ulta Beauty

Now that you know all of these amazing drugstore dupes, there is nothing stopping you from slaying everyone on Valentine’s Day!
