#ICYMI: Spring Preview: A Presidential Ambassador’s Perspective

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FAMU chapter.

FAMU hosted its annual Spring Preview on March 29th in the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center. Spring Preview is the larger of the school’s annual two major recruiting events hosted on campus.  Prospective students spoke with representatives from schools and colleges that peaked their interest; as well as presidential ambassadors, royal court, peer mentors and any current students that stopped by.  Despite the rainy morning, prospective students braved the weather and went on campus tours escorted by the newly chosen orientation leaders for the 2014-2015 academic year.  Current students that participated were very excited to see future Rattlers visit The Hill. Mareshah Wiley, a junior and peer mentor felt accomplished. “The most rewarding thing was when one of the students texted me after Spring Preview about housing options and we ended up learning so much about each other.”

For some, this is a new experience. Keondrea Huggins, a freshman, had never participated in the event before. This was Huggins first time seeing how the university structures recruitment events.  Spring Preview concludes with a presentation program from a president ambassador as well as from the offices of financial aid, admissions and many other departments. Former Interim President Dr. Robinson even spoke.  The best time of the event was the awarding of presidential scholarships. The 2014 preview awarded more than 30 deserving students over $1,000,000 in scholarships.
