Morality and Ethos for Florida A&M

By Robyn Mowatt
September 27, 2012 - 11:28am

My opinion on the culture of hazing at our university is one of total consistency. Hazing is wrong. In my eyes I believe hazing should not be accepted as a ritual or rites of passage into organizations on campus. There are many arguments as to why hazing is accepted at historically black colleges and universities and on other college campuses across the nation. Personally I believe hazing is prominent on campuses because it is embedded within a university’s social culture. The hazing culture is a poison which infiltrates a respectable university such as Florida A&M and leads to unsatisfactory results. READ MORE

Political Party vs. Progression Plan?

By Deidra Washington
September 12, 2012 - 6:21pm

Many people are more concerned with the political party of the candidates running in the 2012 Presidential Election rather than their stance and forward progression plan for the United States. In 2011, Governor Rick Scott and Republication-dominated Legislature's passage of a controversial election law stated that, among other things, it would decrease the number of days in which in-person early voting is allowed. Previously there were 14 days of early voting; now there are eight days. Although it seems like the Republican orientated state is taking all precautions to get Mitt Romney the vote, many people have taken advantage of the early voting since the days had been cut....
