5 Soup Recipes to Try This January

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Falmouth chapter.

Although Falmouth is technically in the warmest part of England, it’s still super cold. The sea air, like, chills you to the bone and it’s no joke. To help beat this Cornish frigidity, try out some of these hot and tasy soup recipes (the tomato basil soup is the best).

5. Mexican Street Corn Soup.

A soup version of the Mexican elote, a Mexican version of a corn-on-a-cob, this one has corn, cilantro, cojita cheese, chilli powder, and lime juice that all come together to make this yummy meal. Get the recipe here

4. Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Tomato and basil are a classic combo that gives you a basic and delicious soup that everyone’s gonna love. A couple of croutons can be thrown in like pictured above, but a grilled cheese sandwich or some fresh bread goes great along with this soup. Get the recipe here

3. Creamy Tuscan Garlic Tortellini Soup

Succulent pieces of rotisserie chicken paired with chunks of tomatoes and grated Parmeasan cheese make this super yummy. This is definitely more of a ‘comfort food’ type of soup, but it will surely keep you warm on the coldest days. Get the recipe here

2. Asopao de Camarones

This soup comes from Puerto Rico and is a shrimp gumbo. It’s delicious and wonderfully seasoned and will totally warm you up on a cold evening. Get the recipe here

1. Sancocho

Sancocho is a soup that originated in the Dominican Republic and it’s super delicious and very hearty and other countries near the D.R. like Puerto Rico and Cuba have their own versions of it (which only means more soup to eat). Some recipes have three different meat in them, but chicken is the best. Although this soup is tradionally made for big events like weddings and holiday parties, this dish is too good to wait around for!
