10 Episodes of New Girl You Need to Rewatch Before the Final Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

New Girl will begin its final season on Tuesday April 10th at 9:30pm eastern time. As someone who has been a fan since the beginning, I’m both excited for the new season and devastated to see such a great show come to an end. But thanks to sites like Netflix and Hulu, we can watch our favorite episodes anytime! Here is a list of 10 great episodes you should watch before the final season starts. (WARNING: This list contains ~major spoilers~)

1. Season 1 Episode 1: Pilot

A great opening to a great show! In this episode the cast is introduced showing all their quirks while keeping them light-hearted and lovable.

2. Season 1 Episode 19: Secrets

When Jess finally finds out that Schmidt and Cece are sleeping together she flips out, insisting that there be no secrets between the roommates, a decision she ~immediately~ regrets. At the same time Nick tries playing the field…leading to one of my favorite Winston moments.

3. Season 2 Episode 7: Menzies

This is one of my favorite episodes because Jessica Day summarizes how it feels to get your period with hilarious quotes like, “I feel like I want to murder someone, and also I want soft pretzels.” Meanwhile, Nick tries to learn how to deal with his anger.

4. Season 2 Episode 10: Bathtub

This episode shows the hilarious relationship between Jess and Winston, when Winston admits that he also wants a bathtub. Of course, things immediately go awry, and Winston and Jess have to figure out how to get themselves out of a major dilemma.

5. Season 2 Episode 14: Pepperwood

In this episode there are more great Nick and Jess moments when Nick believes that one of Jess’s students is going to murder her. Nick creates his reoccurring character Julius Pepperwood. Meanwhile, the loft begins revealing each other’s ‘pogos’ creating tension.

6. Season 3 Episode 14: Prince

One of the best guest stars, Prince, makes an appearance two years before his death. It shows Nick and Jess’ unique relationship when Nick tells Jess he loves her for the first time and she does finger guns back. Of course, Prince is there to smooth everything over.

7. Season 4 Episode 8: Teachers

After instituting a no-dating policy between the teachers, Jess finds out the new teacher is soulmate material. Meanwhile, the tables turn when Nick has to teach Winston and Schmidt basic life lessons.

8. Season 5 Episode 5: Bob & Carol & Nick & Schmidt

This classic episode shows the great relationship between Nick and Schmidt. Meanwhile, Winston helps Cece pick out a wedding dress while Jess is on Jury Duty.

9. Season 5 Episode 15: Jeff Day

In this great episode, Jess addresses sexism by pretending to be a man when making a deal with the car dealership to get a lower price.

10. Season 6 Episode 21: San Diego

The stars finally start to align for Nick and Jess in the season 6 finale, setting up season 7 as the final end to Nick and Jess’s will-they-won’t-they relationship.

There are so many more great episodes in this fantastic series, but we hope this list gets you excited for the beginning of the end of a fantastic show!
