Last night, Chabad at F&M experienced a very exciting event: the grand opening of their new center. This Shabbat dinner brought together students, alumni, faculty, president of F&M, Dan Porterfield, and community members to celebrate a very momentous occasion over a very yummy Israeli food dinner. In total, there were approximately 50 people who came out to help celebrate.
Chabad at F&M student board members spent their time decorating and setting up the new center, and it definitely looked great and everyone had a fantastic time. There was lively singing and discussions, and definitely a lot of memories were made at this event.
The new center includes two kitchens, one for meat and one for dairy, an office for the rabbi and spiritual advisor of Chabad at F&M, a second floor for housing, and will soon hopefully have vintage 80’s arcade games in the basement.
Students were involved in every aspect of the dinner, from helping to serve food to giving speeches to leading songs and prayers to even helping clean up! It was definitely a student run event and a great success!
