When we were teenagers, the world may have seemed to be full of quick judgments. In fact, the ability to ignore the opinions may even have been difficult. As we overcame our experiences of self-insecurity, we embarked on a new journey known to all as the college years. For some, college is a time where we get to explore and focus on what we want rather than what others might think of us. But not all are fortunate, as oftentimes college can become another breeding ground for worries and insecurities to emerge within us. Whether we like to admit it or not, we all have our moments of fear. We are all susceptible to focusing too much on what others are saying and thinking about ourselves. Although it may be difficult at times to shut out all of the noises that are not positive or adds onto our lives, here are two reasons why you should practice the art of “I don’t care, it’s my life” because we should all be able to live a judgment-free life.
#1. It’s Not Healthy
Focusing too much on what others are thinking and saying about you is not healthy. As much as we might be curious and obsess over this, the obsession could lead you down a very unhealthy path. There are a variety of ways on how you can practice shutting out the noise from building a strong and trustworthy group of friends who know how awesome the real you is to constantly remind yourself why you are AMAZING.
#2. It’s Your Life
At the end of the day, your life is up to you to decide how you want to live it. There are so many people who have little things to say about you that are based on half-truths or not-truths at all. Don’t let all of the busybodies affect your life and how you see yourself. No one has the power to steer your life down a path without your consent, so don’t forget who’s in control.
Life is difficult and can be tricky to navigate. There will always be trolls who think that is the expert in all things you and will try to bring you down, but don’t ever forget those six words and walk down your path of life with your head held high and proud. I don’t care, it’s my life.
