The Six Make-Up Products You Need In Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Another girl’s make-up bag is a mecca of unknown treasures that come hand-in-hand with their personal review. “I love the colour but it comes off so easily” and “The texture of it is great but it comes out really dark!” are the sort of comments that come to mind. My favourite one recently was “This Mac primer is too sparkly for me, do you want it?” (Ummm, YES.) However, the best thing about another’s girls make-up bag is that it contains her holy-grail-essentials, the product details of which you should always take down and run to your nearest pharmacy with. So without further ado, here is one HCX girl’s make-up must-haves; feel free to hide this list away until its 3-for-2 in Boots again.

YSL Touch Éclat (1)

I was sceptical about buying this product for a long time, mainly because I didn’t think it could live up to the hype around it. However, after snapping one up in a mothers’ day deal (I’m sorry John Lewis, it wasn’t really for my mum) I absolutely fell in love with its radiant highlighting abilities. I use it for my under-eye circles but you can use it Kim Kardashian style to sculpt your cheekbones, and even use it as an eyeshadow primer. It’s worth every penny!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer (51)

This little tube of concealer really packs a punch; it’s totally opaque and not at all greasy like a lot of liquid concealers. You can apply it with a concealer brush, but I prefer to pat it on with my fingers – it melts effortlessly into the skin.

L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes Excess Waterproof Mascara (Black)

I have acutely stubborn eyelashes – they’re long but resolutely straight, and this is the only mascara that will hold a curl after using eyelash curlers. It also adds volume and is the perfect jet black.

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup Foundation (Ivory)

I personally tend to run past the Benefit counter in Boots just in case I accidently buy something and decimate my bank balance. However, I think that this gem is worth it. It’s not actually that expensive for a foundation, and its light formula is buildable for when you want more coverage – it even has a hint of perfume!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

This is the brush I use for the above foundation – its synthetic fibres are wonderfully soft and the brush as a whole applies my foundation smoothly sans streaks.

Sleek I Divine Mineral Based Eyeshadow Palette (The Original 594)

Last but not least! This Sleek Makeup palette has a range of intense, shimmery, almost cream-like textured colours. I personally love eyeshadows that shimmer, but if you prefer matte eyeshadows, Sleek also have a matte range out.

There you have it – maybe its time now to go and buy one of these as a little post-deadline treat?
