Library Pick-Me-Ups: How to Survive Your All-Nighter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

It’s that mid-term time of year again, and here at Her Campus we’re all starting to feel the strain! No matter how much you want to keep the five-week Cheesey’s streak going, deadlines are fast approaching, and it’s looking more and more likely that the ‘couple of last minute touches’ to your coursework is going to turn into an all-nighter at the library. So we’ve come up with a handy list of must-have products that’ll keep you going and feeling fresh into the wee-hours of the night!

  1. Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

In preparation for a long-haul visit to the library, we at Her Campus know the importance of a good moisturiser! Late nights can reap havoc with your poor skin, but help is at hand! Priced at £32 from Boots, this angel in a bottle is amazing for keeping your skin feeling fresh and hydrated right the way into the night with its 24-hour hydration system. The gel-cream texture will blend perfectly into your skin and is suitable for all skin types, whether you have a more oily or dry complexion. We know it might seem pricey, but we promise you won’t regret it as it’s basically a tall glass of cooling water for your skin! However if all the nights out have left you a little strapped for cash, put this on your Christmas list and opt for a cheaper alternative:

  1. E.L.F Daily Moisture Stick

You may not have heard of this company, but the New York based E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) have been providing affordable (priced from as little as £1.50!) yet amazing quality make-up to the British shores since 2007! This moisturiser, suitable for all skin types, is perfect for those looking for a good quality product on a budget, and its sleek twist-up design makes it a shoe-in for your next on-the-go product! At a low price of £8.00 it’s an offer you can hardly refuse. Her Campus are super excited about this brand! Currently only available to buy from their website.  (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk)

  1. Urban Decay All-Nighter Long-lasting Makeup Setting Spray

So by now you’ve already been grafting away for a good few hours, and you’re starting to feel a bit worse for wear. Our saviour is here! Priced at £19.95 from Debenhams, this refreshing spray will keep your makeup where it should be, without causing any running. The feather-light texture won’t leave you feeling oily or sticky, but is just the refreshing boost that’ll keep you building up that word count! Plus, it’s amazing for all those sweaty nights on top-floor Timepiece. Her Campus thinks this is a worthwhile investment for every Exeter girl!

  1. Soap and Glory “A Great Kisser” Lip Balm

More and more people are starting to fold, and the library’s population is beginning to dwindle. Your skin’s now feeling fabulous but your lips are feeling not entirely unlike the Sahara. It’s a good job you’ve remembered to bring your new Soap and Glory lip balm! This gorgeous pocket-sized hero comes in five amazing flavours: Sweet Coconut, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Cherry, Juicy Peach, and most recently Peppermint, so there’s something to suit everybody (here at Her Campus we’ve fallen head over heels for the Juicy Peach!). The light-weight formula is perfect for a little moisturising touch while you toil away, and the subtle translucent colour is just enough to catch the attentions of any cute guys you might encounter! Even better, buy it from Boots for £5.00 and you’ll have your new best friend without breaking the bank. Tempted?

  1. Benefit “Boi-ing” Industrial Strength Concealer

The last 200 words are often the hardest, but you’re starting to see the light… Yes, the literal light, morning is drawing closer and it’s nearly the end! But now you’re worried about the trek home and staring at a computer screen has done your eyes no favours. Let’s face it, there are bags carrying bags under those eyes! Cue Boi-ing, Benefits top-selling concealer.  Priced at £17.50 at Debenhams (£16.50 for medium shade), this award-winning product will glide on seamlessly and provide amazing coverage. All this without that horrible caked-on feeling some heavy-duty concealers can give. This heaven-sent product is a well worth addition to any girl’s makeup bag and, in five different shades, you can’t go wrong!

  1. Water!!

This isn’t exactly your typical beauty product, but we can’t emphasise enough the important of drinking sufficient amounts of water! While we know it’s tempting to break out the rocket fuel coffee and six-packs of Red Bull, nothing is better for your skin than good old-fashioned aqua. We think the key to a successful all-nighter is hydration hydration hydration! So drink up girls, your complexion will thank you for it!

Try some of these amazing products to keep you going strong in the library, and let us know what you think!
