This week we put the Samuel Jones menu to the test and were not disappointed.

Samuel Jones opened last November at a picturesque location on the QuaysideThe interior is beautifully decorated with a industrial loft-style approach; the rustic twist feels welcoming, bringing an urban feel to contemporary dining. However, if you are lucky to have the weather on your side, then dine outside in the sunshine. If the amazing view is not enough to entice you to venture down there, then the food certainly is…

The extensive menu has a range of options for everyone, including the vegetarians among us. We chose the Smoked Chicken Thighs (with a sticky barbeque glaze) and the Coriander King Prawns (with coconut milk and lemongrass) as starters and they were both delicious. The chicken was tender and beautifully cooked, while the prawns were gorgeously seasoned and complemented by a light dip.

For our main courses we dined on the Jerk Chicken (Chef’s Special) and the Polenta, Parmesan, Pesto and Sunblushed Tomato Burger (with chunky chips): this vegetarian option is unbelievably mouthwatering and the chips were the perfect combination of crispy and fluffy potato. For the fans of exotic flavours amongst you, the Jerk Chicken is definitely one to try, as the coconut and pineapple flavours contrasted brilliantly with the smoky chicken, satisfying your taste buds completely.

It would not be right if we neglected the dessert menu, so of course we had to put these freshly made dishes to the test as well. The Banana Parfait was recommended to us and it did not disappoint; this frozen dessert with accents of chocolate and lime complemented our meal brilliantly.

We also chose the delectable White Chocolate Cheesecake. A modern twist on a standard cheesecake, this was a sweet and refreshing end to our experience.

All the staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend visiting Samuel Jones, the evening was faultless.

If you are just after a drink they will happily accommodate you with their large range of alternative drink products, which are constantly changing. Why not try their taster pallet: you can choose up to nine 3rd pint glasses of any of their draught products (including lagers, ales, draught beers, stouts and still and sparkling ciders)

Samuel Jones offers a wide range of soft drinks, including the Luscombe products, from a family-owned business based in Devon and the Frobishers Fusion collection which is a company based in Exeter.

They also have a breakfast menu which we are sure is just as amazing as their dinner menu, and reasonably priced too.

So when all that reading gets a bit too much, head on down to the quay for some culinary delights – no doubt we will see you there!
