HCX Campus Celebrity: Bozhana Miteva

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

This week Her Campus Exeter had the chance to catch up with the lovely Bozhana Miteva, Exeter’s very own intern for the Career Zone’s Career Mentor Scheme.

Year: 2nd

Course: Management with Marketing

Can you tell us a little more about the Career Mentor Scheme?

Of course, so it is a 6 month scheme, for which you apply to be mentored by a professional in your chosen sector of industry. Providing you are successful, you are matched with either your first or second choice, working on a first come first served basis. Applications open this Monday 26th January, if you are interested in applying for the next scheme, which will run May- October.

After being a part of the scheme yourself last year, can you tell us a little bit about the opportunities it provides for students?

Well a mentor provides you with an insight into your chosen sector, so it is a great way to learn first-hand more about the industry you want to work in. They also provide support such as CV proof reading, help with job applications, interview practice, can aid with networking opportunities and advice on work experience placements.  So is a great way to get ahead in your career search.

Which would you say was your favourite shop, when looking for an office chic outfit?

I highly recommend Zara. In Zara you pay a little bit more but it is so worth it.  Admittedly I can often be found scanning the clothes rails of Zara in Princesshay, searching for the latest pieces.

Are there any other events which happen though the scheme?

Yes, I was involved in the organisation of the Meet your Mentor event in November at the beginning of 6 month scheme. Mentors came to campus to meet their mentees in order to commence their partnership. It was a really nice way to set goals and objectives for further meetings and also network with other mentors.

So being a bit of a business woman yourself, which city would you ideally like to work in, in the future?

I think it has to be London. I just love the busy rhythm and vibe the city gives off. It never seems to stop; there is always so much to see where ever you look.

We heard you were quite a traveller, what is the best place you have visited?

Yes I love travelling, but have made a bit of a habit of visiting all the Zara shops in each city. It has become a bit of an obsession now!  Anyway favourite place has to be Paris; it is just such a beautiful place, not to mention the gorgeous clothes!

Charlotte is a third year Maths and English student who is President for HCX. She loves reading about the history of major designers and browsing through their latest collections and enjoys running, ice skating and partying! She is also interested in making and designing clothes as well as buying them and has taken several courses in pattern design for Womenswear. A few years ago she ran her own small business making and selling shorts and lounge pants which she hopes to restart soon.  She loves visiting new places and would love to travel to France to improve her French and learn more about the culture and fashion. She thoroughly enjoyed being Deputy Editor for the Fashion and Beauty team in her second year so is very excited to be part of the inspirational HCX team for a third year.
