If you’re anything like me, you’ll love trying out new beauty products. Whether it’s makeup, skincare, or some new hair balm you didn’t know you needed (or even existed), there’s always something you simply need to try out. This is where beauty boxes come in.

You might have heard of them, or maybe even seen some ads on Twitter, but I’m here to tell you a little bit more about them. Beauty boxes are a great way to try out new products, or products you wouldn’t usually buy because they’re too expensive. And the great news is that beauty boxes are all reasonably affordable, especially considering the value of the products in each box.

I was a little apprehensive at first, but be reassured: you don’t have to subscribe to these beauty boxes unless you want to, and even then, you can just try a three-month subscription. So you can always just order one to try out.

Birchbox

This is the first beauty box I tried. If you’re lucky enough to be going to London’s Oxford Street any time soon, you can even go to Selfridge’s and build your own Birchbox, choosing from a variety of four different products for each sample you’re allowed.

Birchbox provides a mix of skincare, body, hair and makeup samples – some of which are small sample-sized products, and some of which are full-sized.

At £10 a month (plus postage and packaging), you can unsubscribe at any time, and I can definitely recommend giving them a try.

Look Fantastic

I tried this one back around December, and fell in love with the box before I even opened it. It’s so cute and well-presented, everything wrapped up in tissue paper and stickers. With a variety of several products (including, for instance, a de-tangling hairbrush, which I got in my box),  the Look Fantastic beauty boxes are quite good value at £15 per box (bear in mind that there are discounts if you choose to get a subscription for a certain number of months).

Glossybox

Another popular UK beauty box subscription service, Glossybox provides much the same service as the previous two. Glossybox sends you five beauty treats each month, at an amazing price of only £10 a month (or discounted, for subscription packages), plus postage and packaging. This isn’t one I’ve tried personally, but I have a friend who tried the three-month subscription and really enjoyed her boxes, giving it a high recomendation for anyone who loves a bit of luxury in their lives.
