The last term of university – whatever year you’re in – can be considered the most stressful, what with the sudden overload of exams and all of the subsequent revision that must be done. It can get hard, stressful, frustrating and any other negative words that can be associated with hours of studying – especially during the holidays. So, here are 5 ways to make those hours seem less long and easier to deal with.

5. Music

If you prefer to work with a quiet atmosphere, that’s understandable. But, certain people find that putting on their favorite track, or even creating a revision playlist for their study sessions, is a great motivation for getting their work done quicker and more enthusiastically on the whole. Whether it’s classical music, or extreme metal tracks, try whatever works for you to make revision seem more fun.

4. Get out

Sometimes, when you’re studying for possibly hours on end, the location of your studies can get stuffy and boring to work in properly. It can take as little as a change of scenery, going out and getting some fresh air, or just changing your study space for an hour or two, to get your motivation and energy flowing again.

3. Clean

A number of studies have shown that when revising or working towards a goal, it is calming and easier to be in a clean, uncluttered space or environment. So, wherever you’re working, even if it’s in the university library, make sure to surround yourself with as little clutter as you can, as it is said to help the mind unclutter itself in turn.

2.  Make a plan

Having a clear plan or schedule for your revision will be a lifesaver, you’ll see. You can then prioritize certain tasks above others, and hopefully not get bogged down by realising how much you have to do. Also, remember to put 15 minute breaks in your plan between tasks, as it will make everything run much more smoothly!

1. Take care of yourself

This statement can’t be reinforced enough. When you’re in the midst of revision hell, don’t set aside your own physical and mental health. Remember, if you’re not at peak condition yourself, all that work will seem even more tedious and hard. When you’re working, remember to eat and sleep properly as well, even if it means losing some hours of precious revision time. You’ll thank yourself for it later, and give yourself a well deserved pat on the back for your efforts.

University exams are an awful lot of pressure, even if you’re a veteran third-year student. Remember to not overwork too much, and (most importantly) take time for yourself whenever you want.
