Workout Motivation: The Secret’s in the Outfit!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Ever not feel like working out? That was me, like ALL the time before I started getting serious about my workout gear. By serious, I don’t mean buying elaborate or expensive workout clothes, but those that are cute and fun. It actually makes a complete difference! When I plan out my workouts now, they always revolve around my outfits and which top, or even which headband I’m going to wear. I get more excited and start anticipating my workouts the night before, just because of my workout clothes! It may seem silly, but any little extra motivation and spring in your step when you’re on your way to spin class, yoga, or even just the treadmill at the gym always helps! Here are a few ideas to help you start building the perfect workout wardrobe:

For any workout I’m definitely a tights/leggings kind of person – they’re super comfy and you never have to worry about them moving around during even the most intense workouts! Typically I go for all black tights, but this pair of Lorna June Jungle Stability Leggings is the perfect balance of classic black with a hint of fun in the side panels ($97).

Koral Activewear’s Lucent Legging is the perfect pair of flirty leggings that you give you a slimming silhouette with the sheer panels ($125).

Sports bras don’t have to be boring. On the contrary, they can be the most fun part of your outfit! Wear a sheerer top to not only show off all your hard work from your fashionable workout sessions, but also to show off your sports bra! My two favorites are Blue Life Fit’s Snake Mesh Sports Bra ($88) (love a snake print!) and the Onzie Triangle Bra ($48). Onzie’s bras are all amazing because almost all of them have intricate woven backs—so pretty.

Whether you prefer to workout indoors or outdoors, a hat is a must-have accessory! It adds another dimension to your ensemble and also covers up our pre/post workout hair troubles. I love this Adidas by Stella McCartney Cap in Grape ($46).

With the right outfit, you’ll never find yourself dreading the gym again!
