As we begin a new semester, I am sure we are all dying to reflect on the hottest trends of the summer.

I spent my summer back at home in Mumbai, India. As I thought about what I would write for my first article, I immediately had the urge to share some of what I noticed to be the summer trends from across the globe. Maybe this will inspire you to include a bit of a South-Asian twist to your ensembles as we reach the tail end of the summer!

Here are three of my favorites:

  1. The Chola Puri Chappal – The Indian Flip Flop

The Chola Puri Chappal is an everlasting trend in Indian Society. Whether you are lounging by the pool or going to a casual lunch date, this Indian Version of the Flip Flop serves your purpose. You can purchase them in any color imaginable and they can even be purchased in the style of a wedge for a more formal occasion.

  1. Culottes

Another one of the trends in Mumbai I adored, were Culottes. Culottes aren’t necessarily a trend of Indian origin, but they are taking the Indian fashion scene by storm.  Culottes were my personal go-to for most semi-formal occasions. They are easy to pair with any plain top and their flared effect and unique length add spark to your outfit.

  1. The Kurti – Indian Shirt

The last and final trend is another trend of Indian origin. The Kurti for years has dominated Indian fashion. Ranging from something casual you could probably sleep in to decadent versions you could wear to a wedding, this slightly long in length shirt is the perfect item to throw on jeans or a formal pair of trousers, serving as a go to item no matter what the occasion.

That is it for now, but I hope I have inspired some of you to start adding some sort of an Indian twist to your ensembles!
