How to Throw a Super Bowl Party in Your Dorm Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Even if you’re not a football fan, as an Emory student, this year’s Super Bowl is one to get excited for: our Atlanta Falcons have made it to the big leagues! So get excited and throw a Super Bowl party to remember. The key to a good party is always food and decorations, so here are a few tips that will make your dorm room the place to be on Super Bowl Sunday.

1. Nachos are a delicious and easy way to make your guests happy. All you’ll need to do is put refried beans, taco seasoning, shredded cheddar, and tomatoes on tortilla chips, microwave them until the cheese melts, and there you go! Also, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa for side-dipping never hurts!

2. On the other hand, if you’ve had a long week and can’t get yourself to go grocery shopping or take the elevator down to the dorm kitchen and want someone else to do all the work for you, there is always the option to order in! Thankfully, Emory Village has some good spots. If you’re feeling greasy pizza and chicken wings, Domino’s is the way to go! But, if you’re feeling more sophisticated and classy, you can never go wrong with Slice and Pint.

3. Sugary treats are always a must to balance out the savory ones! Cookies are a classic, but are you looking to be more original this year? Try making one big cookie. Buy cookie dough, put it in a skillet, and bake it at 350° until it passes the toothpick test. This is a fun and delicious treat that will ensure everyone has fond memories of your party.

Pro tip: It’s even better served with ice cream!

4. Lastly, we all know it’s not a true Super Bowl party without some fun decorations. Luckily, Emory is in a cosmopolitan area, which means decorations are easy to find! The CVS in both Emory Village and Emory Point carry Super Bowl-themed paper plates and cups. Or, if you’re looking to go all out, the trip to Party City isn’t too long, and it’s totally worth it for the great decorations and deals you’ll get.

Happy planning, and, of course GO FALCONS!!!!!!
