How to Survive Summer Without Your College Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

The school year is coming to an end. It has been a great year with lots of memoriesand all the wonderful friends you have made at college, but now comes the time to make the journey back home. Although you are excited for finals to be done so you can be a hermit and binge all of Netflix for the next 4 months, you will miss all the great friends you have made. Here is how to ensure you won’t miss your friends too much.

1. Put Pen to Paper.

I am sure you will be texting your friends with continuous updates about the guy that dumped you in high school and got fat, but there is a more personal touch in a handwritten note. Maybe you can even replicate Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and send an item that will be shared with your friend group throughout the summer.

2. Download Houseparty.

Houseparty is a FaceTime app that allows a group of people to FaceTime at the same time. You can plan for all your friends to go onto the app at the same time or join groups of people that are already chatting. It’s the perfect way to catch up with all your friends.

3. Try and plan a trip.

This is contingent on how far your friends live from you, but if you have the benefit of living close by, try and plan a trip with your college friends. This could be a trip to their hometown or meeting them halfway. This is tricky to plan, but if it works, you will be so excited to see them.

4. Enjoy your summer.

Although you may find yourself missing your friends from college, enjoy your summer. It is a great time to catch up with your friends from high school, relax, and enjoy time off of school. Having a summer full of fun adventures and good stories will give you more to talk about when you get back to school.

As this college year comes to an end, enjoy your friends and good luck with finals.
