DIY Projects to Spice Up Your Dorm for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

The Fall season has come upon us as it finally has been getting cooler in the ATL. It is officially time to use those cozy cardigans and dust off your boots to make the most of this season! In the spirit of the season, here are five ways to make your apartment or dorm more fall ready:

  1. Leaf Mug

Buy a white mug from the dollar store, draw leaves, and glaze in the oven so you can have a cute, fall decorated mug to drink your tea or coffee out of during this season! The type of mug, pen, and oven all help determine how long you should put the mug in the oven for to glaze.

2. Mason Jar Candle Holder

Take an unused clear mason jar and mod podge fake or real leaves onto the outside of the jar using a sponge or brush. You can add an electric candle inside to create a cool effect once you turn off the lights.

3. Glitter Leaves

Take leaves and use mod podge to sprinkle glitter onto the leaves. From here you can either string them onto twine and make a garland or you can hang them sporadically around your room.

4. Painted Pumpkin

The easiest project would have to be painting a pumpkin with any design you like.  From solid colors to geometric shapes, there are plenty of designs you can create on you pumpkin!

5. Pine Cone Table Decoration

If you see any pine cones lying around, start collecting them because you can put them all in a large, glass container for an easy centerpiece on your table or desk.
