The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Hair [Fall Edition]

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

If you clicked on this article, you may be a fellow lazy-gal like myself– when it comes to hair, that is. Being a college student with 8 a.m. classes, or those precious class-free mornings where you can’t seem to tear yourself away from your bed, it’s hard to find the time to mix up your usual hairstyle. The tutorials below provide some standard go-to options, such as braids and ponies, but with interesting twists (pun intended, as you’ll see in the first video). Get cozy and let these tutorials give you some inspiration for these remaining days of fall!

“Sweater Weather Half Updo”

This hairstyle is a super easy twisted half updo that will pair amazingly well with second-day curled hair, or even your natural locks! It adds that extra oomph and uniqueness to the standard leggings-boots-and-sweater ensemble that everyone has been rocking this semester.

“Running Late Hair Fixes”

This tutorial speaks to girls on the run! Or…more likely, girls rolling out of bed 15 minutes before class starts (oops!). It has a multitude of styles, including three half up, half down looks; two pulled back styles; and some fun ponytail options. It also has some cute hat suggestions for those days where you just can’t expose your unwashed second (or third…or fourth…) day roots to the world.

“7 Days of Ponytails”

When it comes to my go-to hairstyles, the classic ponytail is definitely one of the top runners. This video has a whole week’s worth of cute and different ponytail options– my dream come true! It also includes a tutorial on how to achieve the topsy-turvy pony, shown in the previous video. It’s clearly a huge fall trend that’s worth a try!

“How To: Half Up-Do Topknot”

To end the list of hair-inspo, this tutorial features a style that you have likely seen on a daily basis this fall: the half-up topknot. Check out this final video to keep your half updo looking chic and as far from man-bun-gone-wrong as possible.

Lauren is a Junior at Emmanuel College, and is the chapter's co-managing editor. After exploring different areas of study, she declared her major as English-Communications, and is double minoring in Management and Gender Studies. Her interests include getting lost in a good book, adventuring around the beautiful city of Boston, laughing, and admiring beauty gurus on Instagram and Youtube. If she isn't contemplating her next purchase at Sephora, you'll most likely find Lauren with either tea or coffee in hand, striving to be like Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, or making her boyfriend call her cell phone just so she can listen to her The-Office-theme-song ringtone.
Sammy is a senior at Emmanuel College, majoring in English: Communications & Media Studies with a minor in Music-Theater.
