Top Five Places to go this Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

School’s almost out and the sun is shining, so there’s no better time to start looking for love. Wherever the wind takes you this summer break, there are many “hot” spots that are great for picking up a new guy. Check out my recommendations and have some summer lovin’!

1. The Beach

The great thing about the beach is that you have lots of options, shirtless guys are everywhere! While you may be tempted to stay with your gals and stare from afar, make sure you walk around and mingle. You can’t count on being approached, so take the bull by the metaphorical horns and get up! Go for a swim, throw around a frisbee, or start a game of beach volleyball. Being active on the beach is a sure way to gain some attention and have guys coming over to join in on the fun. Tip for the confident collegiate: casually walk by a group of guys and ask them to take a picture of you and your friends. This is a sure way to meet new people!

2. Work/Internship

Having to work during the summer may seem like a drag, but try to think about it in a different light: you will be meeting tons of new people! A good tip is to make sure you get out of the office. Ask the hottie at the next cubicle to grab lunch or join in on the after-work happy hour trip. If neither of these are options, try to walk around during breaks (especially if you’re in the city) or go to a coffee shop or the mall after work instead of straight home. Keep your eyes peeled because you never know when Mr. Right will come strolling in!

3. An Amusement Park or Fair

You’d be surprised how many local guys will grab their buddies and head over to Six Flags for an fun day in the parks. When you’re waiting in line, scope out the scene. If you spot a probable candidate, don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation while you are waiting for the ride. There’s no better way to spend an hour long wait in line than chatting with a potential summer fling!

4. A party

One reason summer break is fantastic is because it brings your old high school friends home. Now’s your chance to reconnect with an old crush or get up the nerve to approach that boy you’ve always been too afraid to talk to. Maybe you aren’t too interested in the same guys that you grew up with back at home, but think about it: how many potentially handsome new friends have your friends made in college? Oh the possibilities! If your friend or neighbor is having a get together this summer, make sure to stop by. Wear your cutest summer gear, grab some refreshing snacks and keep an eye out for all the new potential man-candy in town.

5. A concert

Concerts attract hundreds of music-lovers. Not to mention, music is one of the easiest ways to bond with someone! The benefit of going to an outdoor concert is that the size of the venue allows more attendees, meaning there are more guys to choose from! So find a concert that best fits your taste, and get ready to jam out with some hotties. Check out large concerts like Bonnaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, or Vans Warped Tour. The bigger the concert, the more chances you have to meet that special someone!

This break, try looking for love in one of these places. Always approach someone new with a smile and a positive attitude, and you’re bound to have a fabulous summer!
