Out on the [European] Town

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.
Leaving the United States, when you’re under twenty-one, means you can finally get into night clubs. Here are some of the best ones my friends and I have visited while in Europe.

Well, Netherlands

Dulcia’s Place, formerly known as Sophie’s Lounge, is located inside the Castle. It’s a lot like the Max, except they serve alcohol.

Cafe Onder de Linden is home to American Night every Wednesday. You can drink and dance on table with the locals and your fellow Kasteel goers.

MFC de Buun is Well’s multipurpose center. You may come here for a class or two, but there’s also a bar, so you may just go to drink.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

If you decide to visit Prik, make sure you order the Purple Forrest. The mixture of berries made this the best drink I’ve had yet in Europe.

Out of the 2,000 people at the LoveChild party at Odeon, my roommate and I were the only two girls. It’s a great place to dance if you don’t feel like getting hit on.

Paris, France

At the Banana Cafe, you can find gay men in Speedos dancing on platforms. Bonus: drinks are included with the entrance fee.

The 3W Cafe is one of the only European bars with no cover charge. It is a lesbian bar, but there is a surprising amount of attractive straight guys there.

Florence, Italy

Space Electronic is a place where you will inevitably be groped by eager Italian men, but it’s definitely a must-have experience.

Rome, Italy

They throw Cosplay nights where everyone dresses up as anime characters at Coming Out, located right behind the Colosseum.

London, England

The Electric Ballroom, located in Camden, is where I recommend going on Saturday nights. They play music from the 70s to today.

Prague, Czech Republic

Karlovy Lazne is a five story night club that plays different types of music on each floor.

Barcelona, Spain

Arena is where it’s at. With three clubs under the same name, you can pay for one and bounce between the other two for the night. The bar doesn’t get crowded until two in the morning, and everyone stays there dancing until seven.

Located directly on the beach, Shoko has a great sound system.

Zadar, Crotia

Hitch also looks onto the beach. At this club, however, the ceiling changes colors. Plus, the drinks are fantastic.

Berlin, Germany

Berghain is an old Soviet power plant that was converted into a nightclub. It is considered to be one of the best clubs in Europe, and is extremely exclusive with who they let in. Don’t wear heels, show up in a group of more than three people, or speak English while waiting in line.

Kit Kat Club is perfect if you’re the adventurous type who wants an experience unlike anything you’ll find in America. They strictly enforce a dress code of fetish wear, so channel Rihanna and bust out your chains and whips!
