Meet Campus Cutie Olivia Medley

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Name: Olivia Medley

Age: 19

Grade: Sophomore

Major: BFA Musical Theatre

Hometown: Atlanta, GA

Relationship Status: Single

What’s your favorite thing about your major? All I’ve ever aspired to be is an actor, so that’s a given, but I love how Emerson’s program specifically is so diverse. We aren’t trained to be cookie cutter performers, we are trained to be honest and real with our acting and always be ourselves.

What orgs are you involved with? I’m the Internal Operations Chair of the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority and I’m also involved with Musical Theatre Society, and the Newman Club.

What do you aspire to do? My biggest dream has always been to be on Broadway, which I hope comes true one day. But I know that as long as I’m performing in some way I’ll be happy. I’ve recently gotten more interested in comedy too, so we’ll see where that goes. I just want to make people happy!

What motivates you? I think the feeling of accomplishment does it enough for me. I know that if I’m motivated and continue to work hard I will at least accomplish SOMETHING.

Celebrity crush: 100% Zac Efron. Been in love since the first High School Musical came out.

Fun fact: I have a tongue thrust, so whenever I drink something and then swallow, my tongue sticks out and I look like a lizard.

You’ll usually find me: Well the Paramount building because even though I don’t live there, I might as well. But, I love going for walks around the city and try to go on one every day even if it’s only for 10 minutes.

Favorite accessory: Does lipstick count?

Favorite musical: Children of Eden

Favorite dessert: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Favorite place in Boston: The North End and the Public Garden

Favorite childhood Halloween costume: My friend and I were butterflies one year. It was weird.

Your life motto: It’s super cliché, but I have to say everything happens for a reason. I am constantly reminding myself of this all the time and it helps keep me grounded and from getting too worked up.

Describe yourself in three words: Enthusiastic, passionate, happy
