How to Make the Most Out of Spring Break at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Spring break is coming up sooner then expected. Sure, it would have been fun to be with your friends in Mexico or Florida, but what if those plans don’t work out? What if you end up going home for spring break? Not a problem! No need to stress. Make the most out of your vacation at home with these tips!

1. Treat yourself a little

There’s nothing wrong with a little pampering! Spoil yourself in those beauty rituals that you never find the time for during the busy semester. Get a manicure and a pedicure, do a facemask, or get a haircut. If you want to go all out, get a massage! Make sure you relax so you’ll feel recharged when you get back to school and finish up the semester with a bang!

2. Spend time with your family

Make sure to set aside some quality family time while you’re home for spring break. There are so many things you can do with your family; catch a movie with your parents, have dinner with grandparents, get a cup of coffee with your cousin, go to a museum with your sibling, or have a family game night. Spend time with your family while you have the chance!

3. Do some spring cleaning

Admit it, there’s so much clothing in your closet you never even look at. Even though you don’t want to throw anything out, this time at home is great to do some spring cleaning. Go through your whole closet and dresser and see if there is anything you can get rid of or donate. Plus, you’ll have room for new clothes!

4. Try some new recipes

Whether you love to cook or you’re new to it, take advantage of your kitchen at home! Flip on the Food Network and start prepping. It’s easy to go to the grocery store and grab everything you need. Spring break is the perfect time to try some new recipes, and your family is always there to help and enjoy!

5. Catch up on some reading

Everyone has a book list they keep adding to but never have the time to make a dent in. Spring break at home is the perfect time to read a book or two. It’s easy to get lost in a book for a few hours, so take advantage of the break and get it done!

6. Start to think about summer plans

Though summer seems like ages away, it’s only a few months after spring break. If you haven’t already been scouting out internships or jobs, now is definitely the time. Even though you weren’t able to go anywhere for spring break, that doesn’t mean you can’t have an awesome summer break! Plan a trip with your friends – anything from a weekend at the beach or a month in Europe. If you start planning now, you’ll have something to look forward to!

You may be a little bummed out that you’re not with your friends for spring break, and you may feel like you’re stuck at home, but try to make the most of it! There are so many great things to do while home for spring break, so take advantage of them while you have the chance!
