It’s official: the holiday season is upon us here in Boston. That distinct chill is in the air. The Christmas lights are being strung. The top lights of taxis are adorned with ads for holiday shows. Boston is home to some of the best festive entertainment to get you in the spirit! Whether it be Boston Ballet’s timeless “The Nutcracker” or a debut show, there is certainly a wide array to choose from!

Boston Ballet’s “The Nutcracker”

November 28 through December 31 at The Boston Opera House

While this is a time tested classic ballet, 2 holiday seasons ago, the Boston Ballet debuted a refreshed version which is even more breathtaking than the older version. If you want to be whisked away to a winter wonderland of sugar plum fairies and candy canes, make sure to get your tickets quickly!

“Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer: The Musical”

December 9 through December 14 at the Citi Performing Arts Center

That adorable rednosed reindeer is starring in his very own musical adaption of the television special. With 50 years since Rudolph first captured the hearts of children and adults, this stage show is sure to delight audiences. 

2014 Holiday Pops

December 3 through December 31 at Symphony Hall

The Boston Symphony Orchestra presents this classic show yearly. Conductor Keith Lockhart leads the orchestra in an enchanting culmination of holidays songs. The show also includes a sing-a-long and a visit from jolly old Saint Nick.

December 20 at TD Garden

TSO’s winter tour is sure to provide a rocking time. All of your favorite holiday songs are sure to be included in their light-filled “The Christmas Attic” live stage show. 

Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” The Musical

December 16 through Decmber 28 at the Citi Performing Arts Center

Based on the 1954 musical film, this musical will showcase the classic songs of Irving Berlin. You’ll be sure to leave the theater feeling inspired to embrace the true meaning of Christmas.
