Five Ways to Decorate Your Dorm Room for Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Are you super festive and love to decorate for the holidays, but don’t know what to do now that you’re in a dorm room? Get your room into the Halloween spirit with these different decorations. Bonus: This is a great way to bond with your roommates!

1. Wrapping Paper Door Monsters

Want a fun way to spice up your hall? Take some felt, construction paper, or card stock, and maybe some toilet paper and create a monster. Grab your scissors and markers and have some fun. Make a ghost, Frankenstein, or even a mummy.

2. Construction Paper Bats

Use up the leftover felt or black construction paper and cut up some bats to hang on your door or the wall. Use either double-sided tape or command strips to make sure they stick.

3. Orange Light Bulbs

Have a desk lamp or two? Buy some orange bulbs from a nearby party supply store and put them in the lamps. It will give your room a spooky glow at night. Don’t forget to change it back after Halloween is over, though!

4. Orange or Purple String Lights

Don’t want to mess up your desk lamp? Understandable. Buy some Halloween-inspired string lights and hang them up with mini Command Hooks along the ceiling.

5. Fake Cobwebs

Make your room even spookier with spiderwebs hanging everywhere. Buy a bag of the fake cobwebs and pull it apart to make it look real. Use the mini Command Hooks to hang up the webs and hold them.
