Where are you from originally?

I live in Maryland, directly between Baltimore and DC, so [when not in Boston] my time is spent equally between these two cities.

What has been your favorite travel destination so far studying abroad in Europe?

Belgium, Brussels and Bruges. Bruges was really gorgeous, I’ve been wanting to go there for a really long time. I also got my septum piercing there, which is another reason for why it’s a favorite. Brussels is a place I could see myself living, it’s kitschy and eclectic. Also, to get there we had to take a lot of trains, and I love trains.

What are some quotes you live by?

I have a ton, they’re all tattooed on me. My favorite is in latin, “Non sum qualis eram.” It means “I am not what I once was” and it’s from The House of Leaves.

What other tattoos do you have?

Four. “Non sum qualis eram,” is on my torso. I have one on my back, it’s a friendship tattoo with my best friend from home, Rachael. It’s a picture of a horizon line. On the inside of my forearm I have “on his own terms,” it’s part of a quote from Franny and Zooey by J. D. Salinger. The full quote is, “An artist’s only concern is to shoot from some kind of perfection, on his own terms, not anyone else’s.” On the side of my knee I have one of little birds; I did it myself one day. I really like the idea of doodling on myself permanently. My fall back in life has always been that I can become a tattoo artists if this whole film thing doesn’t work out, and I thought that the best way to practice would be on myself.
