6 Stages of Coming Back from Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Coming back from spring break is one of the hardest things you’ll have to do during second semester. Whether you went on a fun vacation, headed home for a week or even stayed in Boston, having a week off from school was a blast. Unfortunately, what makes spring break so difficult is that it’s our last break before the home stretch that rounds out the second semester. We get it, we don’t want to go back either, and we’re feeling a whole range of emotions.

1. Denial. Let us stay on spring break forever!

2. Acceptance of fate. But it doesn’t mean we’re going to be happy about it.

3. Fear. The rest of this semester is going to be rough, with a lot of work.

4. False optimism. We’re going to make the best of a bad situation.

5. Real optimism. We’ve convinced ourselves that it’s going to be okay.

6. Excitement. This is all going to work out, we’re going to have a ton of great experiences, and it’s really only about a month and a half until the end of the year, if we round up!

You’ll be okay collegiettes, we promise. It’s going to be difficult, and you should expect some rough emotions as you get back to school, but remember that summer is only a few months away!
