There are few things better than reading a book so fierce that you feel motivated to get your ‘adulting’ done for the next month, reach all of your life’s aspirations and clean your house only after reading the first chapter. It’s even better when the book is written by a boss woman author. And since you are a fierce as hell female who deserves to read the fiercest books of them all, here are five to sink your teeth into this semester.

1. Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham

Oh, Lena. You make us laugh, you make us cry and you make us want to flip the world upside down. Lena Dunham’s book will leave you feeling motivated to change whatever it is about this world that makes your skin crawl. With each chapter she writes, she equips you with a piece of armor to prepare you to kick some ass. Not only will you walk away from this book with more confidence to speak your mind than ever before, but you’ll also add Lena Dunham to your list of inspirational ladies.

2. The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer’s book is nothing short of a quick trip inside the comedian’s hilarious (but still dirty) mind. However, she also reveals a different side to her life that not many people would suspect. Throughout her book, Amy Schumer will remind you of the importance of family, your dreams and your love for yourself—all while making you laugh out loud. Yes, you will be that girl in the library laughing like nobody’s watching, but deal with it, because it is so worth it.

3. Bossypants by Tina Fey

In true Tina Fey style, her book is all about learning how to make fun of yourself while still making yourself out to be the boss lady that you are. Tina Fey’s book is the perfect read for whenever you’re doubting your leadership abilities, because she will make you feel like you could run for president (but, then again, it seems like anyone can do that these days… that’s a very different article though). Bossypants is flawlessly humorous and will give you a brand new confidence boost the next time you step into your job, internship or classroom.

4. Yes Please by Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler’s book is the go-to for some career motivation. However fierce you are, we all need a little push in the right direction every now and again, and Amy Poehler gives you that and more in Yes Please. From anecdotes about working with the Upright Citizens Brigade, to working on Parks and Rec, you will feel an immediate sense of motivation to get your life and career goals in check. Werk, girl.

5. You’ll Grow Out of It by Jessi Klein

In this book, Jessi Klein gives you an outstanding perspective on life and the different types of (fabulous) women you come across along the way. Whether you’re a wolf or a poodle (read it and find out), Jessi Klein will give you praise and admiration like you have never received. Also, she’s freaking hilarious and that just tops the cake of fierceness she has already baked for you.

The next time you’re in need of a little motivational pick me up, or you’re totally feeling yourself and want to high five another just as fierce lady, pick up one of these fantastic books. Not only will you give yourself a little time out of the day to honor yourself, but you’ll also get to look inside of the lives of some totally spectacular females. Happy reading!
