20. Charlie Brown Christmas Special

This classic is a must see! It will play into your sensitive side and you will find yourself feeling a little sentimental. Not to worry, though, it won’t make you feel too sentimental and will keep you laughing through the entire thing.

19. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Another must-see classic! I think it’s safe to say that Rudolph is a household name, so why not watch a movie about his story? The only downside is that you might have the song stuck in your head for a few days after.

18. Elf

Who doesn’t love a movie with Will Ferrell in it? This movie will keep you laughing while leaving you hoping that Buddy the Elf finds love. Who knows, maybe you’ll even feel inspired to put syrup on your spaghetti… Or maybe not.

17. Home Alone

While this isn’t your typical Christmas movie, it does take place at Christmas time, so it qualifies for our list. This classic is full of laughs, and who knew an 8-year-old could be so smart?

16. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

A tale about a creature that hates Christmas? How dare he? Watch as the little girl from Who-ville does the impossible, and opens the Grinch’s heart! And who knows, maybe she’ll open yours up, too.

15. It’s a Wonderful Life

This black-and-white classic will transport you back to the ’40s in a touching narrative that is bound to bring tears to your eyes. It truly is a wonderful life.

14. Frosty the Snowman

Yet another classic to add to our list, Frosty the Snowman is the perfect movie to cuddle up under a blanket with. You can even sing along!

13. The Santa Clause

This comedy is the classic where Tim Allen accidentally kills Santa on Christmas Eve, requiring him to become Santa. If that’s not enough to convince you to watch it, then maybe the fact that there is a sequel to it will. You could make it a double feature!

12. Christmas with the Kranks

This movie will keep you in a constant state of second-hand embarrassment, but it is well worth it!  Full of laughs and sentimental moments, this movie is perfect for you to watch this holiday season.

11. The Nightmare Before Christmas

If you don’t really understand the meaning of Christmas because you are more of a Halloween person, this movie is perfect for you, since the protagonist is in the same boat. Join Jack Skellington in his discovery of Christmas Town and all of the magic that goes with it.

10. Die Hard

For those of you who don’t like the typical festive movies, Die Hard is a great option. While it’s not a “typical” Christmas movie, it’s got plenty of action and takes place on Christmas Eve, so, that has to count for something, right?

9. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

This ’80s movie will keep you laughing as the Griswold family’s plans turn into a big disaster. All they wanted was to have a big family Christmas, but you’ll have to watch to see what happens instead.

8. Santa Paws

Who doesn’t want to watch a bunch of little pups running around for an hour and 36 minutes? That’s right, no one. So pop in this film and let these little furballs steal your heart.

7. Love Actually

Set in the month leading up to Christmas, this movie follows the stories of eight different couples leading up to the holidays. All the tales are related in one way or another and you get to see how each couple deals with their individual situations in preparation for the holiday season.

6. Edward Scissorhands

This Tim Burton movie is well known across the board, but many people forget that this is actually a Christmas movie. The entire story revolves around a grandmother telling her grandchildren why it always snows on Christmas.

5. While You Were Sleeping

This cute rom-com will keep you smiling while still tapping into your festive side. Though it isn’t necessarily about Christmas, the plot line revolves around the holiday, so in my opinion, it’s a Christmas movie.  Plus, who doesn’t love Sandra Bullock? So sit back and enjoy this Christmas(ish) movie.

4. The Polar Express

The Polar Express is the perfect movie for people of any age to enjoy. Get in your pjs, make some hot chocolate and curl up under a blanket to enjoy this winter classic.

3. Four Christmases

Don’t we all just love movies that teach us the true meaning of Christmas? This witty movie stars Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon and when their holiday plans don’t turn out the way they expect, the resulting actions won’t fail to put a smile on your face. Sit back and enjoy!

2. A Christmas Carol

Yet another Christmas classic that teaches us the real meaning behind Christmas: A Christmas Carol!  Enjoy spending time with your loved ones and being thankful for everything that you have while you still can. Moral of the story: don’t be a Scrooge!

1. A Christmas Story

This is my all-time favorite Christmas movie classic. Between Ralphie’s bunny costume, the crazy mean mall Santa and those “Oh Fuuuudge!” moments, how can it not be a Christmas favorite? And, if you can’t find this classic online, the television station TBS plays it for 24 hours straight starting on Christmas Eve, all the way through Christmas Day!
