What is the exact title of your leadership position with Zeta Tau Alpha?

I am VP II of the Eta Zeta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha which is the new member coordinator.

How did you find out about this position?

Every pledge class in Zeta gets what we call a pledge mom, which is essentially the name for the VP II. I was really close with mine and it made my whole transition into being in a sorority a lot easier and a lot less stressful and a lot more enjoyable. Kind of right after that, I figured out that that’s something that I wanted to do and it was the perfect way for me to get involved in my sorority as well.

What are some of your responsibilities that go along with this role?

I have a lot of responsibilities with this role! I am in charge of the 62 new members of our chapter so essentially, I help them get assimilated to being in a sorority, I help them with time commitment and just make sure they’re all on track. I also organize fun activities for them to get to know each other past the surface level and really get to bond on a deeper level with each other.

Are there things you find challenging about this position?

I definitely find time management challenging when it comes to this position. I am also taking four classes on top of having this leadership role so at times it does get to be a lot but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

What advice do you have for people that might be interested in this same position?

I would say don’t worry about anything if you’re interested in this position, just go ahead and do it because it is by far the most rewarding thing ever. It’s probably the only chance you’ll be able to get in a sorority to be so close with members who are two years younger than you and you also get to feel so involved and make their experience worthwhile, so I would say absolutely go for it.
