Miss Dance Of North Carolina: Blair Foust

Name: Blair Foust

Birthday: 5/17/96

Year: Sophomore

Major: Dance Performance & Choreography

Hometown: Burlington, NC

What’s your major, and why did you choose it? I’m a dance performance and choreography major. I chose this because I have always wanted to be a professional dancer, and I would be able to get my degree and also continue training.

How and why did you start dancing? My mom put me in dance class when I was 3. As a child, I loved to be the center of attention, so dancing was perfect for me.

What was the pathway to achieve your title? I started competing for the Miss Dance of North Carolina titles when I was 11. I won Teen Miss Dance of North Carolina in 2010. Leading up to the competition is just a lot of rehearsal. Lots of time spent in the studio. You are judged on interview, audition classes and your solo performance.

What’s your favorite thing about Elon? My favorite thing about Elon is the people here. I have made so many friends that I know will last a lifetime. Elon is such a close community, and the connections you make here will carry over as you’re trying to start your career. Side note–our campus is also gorgeous!

Do you still have commitments to the title since you’ve been at school? I still had to do stuff at the beginning of my first year. It was definitely easier to make it to events being in the same state for college.
