In life, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut. You go to work, go to school, go through your day-to-day activities, and that’s it. You’re going through the motions, but are you really living the fullest life you can live? It’s great, and important, to do well in school and be mindful of your goals, but you can’t forget to really live and take advantage of being in the moment. This is why it’s important to find your passion. Having something that makes you feel fully alive can decrease stress, increase happiness, and remind you to step back and realize the vast world in front of you and the infinite opportunities you have to feel fully engaged.

Some people are lucky enough to remain passionate about the same thing their whole life, whether that be a sport, a form of art, or some other activity. However, if you haven’t found that one thing you love doing, it’s not too late! Here are a few ways to become inspired to find your passion:

1. Sign up for a class – People can be nervous to start a new activity just because it is new, but that is no excuse! Sign up for a class so that you have an instructor as well as other people around to motivate you. This can be a workout class, art class, dance class, or anything else that appeals to you. After your first class you may be so intrigued that you start to branch off on your own!

2. Join your friends – Although everyone has different interests and passions, it doesn’t mean they can’t overlap with your friends. The next time your roommate is going out for her nightly run or yoga class, join her! This could become your new passion, or lead you to what appeals most to you.

3. Pick up a pencil – Just by picking up a pencil you are allowing yourself to tap into the creative part of your brain that you may not even know you have! Whether you’re writing a creative story or poem, drawing, or just doodling designs, this is something that you may have a knack for and not even know it.

On those days where you’re so stressed you can’t even focus, it’s important to have a way to release all of your energy and focus on yourself for a little. No matter what is going on in your life, you need to always find “you” time. This will make your problems seem smaller and more manageable, and will make you happier and healthier! Mind-body connection is so important, and it’s as simple as finding that one thing you love to do.
