Birchbox: The Collegiette’s Newest Must Have

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

We collegiettes love fashion and beauty, especially beauty products. Being collegiettes though, we lack time and money, so more often than not we can’t pursue that passion. Fear not though, that’s why Birchbox was created; at least that’s why I think it was created.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription service where customers can fill out a profile quiz about their beauty preferences and habits, to determine the types of products that would curated for their monthly box.

Here are some reasons why you should order your Birchbox ASAP:

1. Birchbox Delivers Products To Our Mailbox:

While this may mean that we might have to wait in the long mail line, waiting to get our pink box handed to us is well worth it. The products in your box are all different from month to month. You will never get two mascaras or multiple skincare products in a single month’s box. Sometimes, Birchbox invites famous people in different career fields to help curate a box. Some past curators have been Emily Schuman, the founder of Cupcakes and Cashmere, Nicole Richie, and from creators of television shows like Mad Men.

2. The Products Are All High Quality:

For only $10 a month, you get five beauty products from well known brands like St. Tropez and O.P.I., to up and coming brands such as Laqa & Co, and PARLOR by Jeff Chastain. As a makeup aficionado who has tried tons of beauty products, thanks to Bichbox, I have discovered ModelCo, which is now my all-time favorite lipstick brand.

3. You Can Receive Points That You Can Redeem at Birchbox For Actual Products:

One of the reasons that sets Birchbox apart from other subscription services is the fact that when you buy products, Birchbox basically gives you money to spend in the Birchbox shop for more products ranging from makeup to lifestyle products. So 100 points is equal to $10 you can redeem in the store. There are multiple ways to gain points, one of them being buying products directly from the Birchbox shop, because $1 spent is equal to one point. You also get points when you sign up for a subscription, and the easiest way to get points is by simply reviewing your products. When you go on to Birchbox on a mobile device, you can see the samples you get in your box every month and write a quick review about them. You get 10 points per sample, so if you review a box you receive 5o points, which is equal to $5. If you refer a friend to Birchbox, you also can receive $5. So as you can see, it’s very easy to gain a lot of points.

4. One Of A Kind Experience:

If any of you are from NYC or are planning to make a trip there soon, Birchbox just opened their first brick-and-mortar store in Soho in 2014. Not only can you redeem your Birchbox points there, but you can also shop Birchbox’s wide array of products. They also have a feature that allows you to BYOB (Build Your Own Birchbox), where you can personalize your own box. In addition to that, there is a “try bar,” where you can go and try the latest makeup products and trends.

5.  Their Social Media is the BOMB:

Birchbox’s social media is amazing! Two major fronts in their high quality content are Juliette Dallas-Feeney and Rachel Jo Silver. From their YouTube videos about new products and how to create different types of looks, to their social media posts, they immerse you into the Birchbox world. Can you say major career envy?

So grab your phone, ipad, or get on your computer and go to https://www.birchbox.com to get your own Birchbox subscription!
