5 Things to Add to Your Summer Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

As summer is quickly approaching, it is a good idea to start making plans for the short months you have at home. Whether you are dreading leaving school, heading off to work at a summer job, or can’t wait to get packing, making a summer bucket list will make you more excited than ever for summertime. No matter if you are heading off to start that summer internship or job, or just hanging on the beach, here are a few things to add a little flavor to your summer:

1.     Explore your hometown

Take some time out of your summer to explore your hometown. Often times we feel that we need to travel or go somewhere new and different to have an adventure. Start doing some research online, or talk to friends about new and exciting things they have done around town for some creative and easily accessible adventures!

2.     Have a bonfire on the beach or in your backyard

Bonfires are a fun, relaxing and easy way to get together with your friends! Order some pizza and drinks, and spend the night outside. Bonfires are also a good way to spend stargazing on those clear nights!

3.     Get outside and get some exercise!

For some of us, exercise is something that we dread in the hot days of the summer. However, if you set a goal of going on a few hikes, or running in a 5k, you will feel much better about sitting on the beach tomorrow!

4.     Go camping with friends

And steer away from social media, Netflix and every other technology in general! Summer is a perfect time to soak up the sun and spend the majority of your time outdoors. Camping is a perfect way to do this while also spending time catching up with your friends.

5.     Attend a music festival

Summer music festivals can be crazy, but they are also a ton of fun and definitely worth the experience! You have plenty to choose from, including the Firefly Music Festival, Lollapalooza, The Free Press Summer Fest, Governor’s Ball and many more!
