Hey girls! All of us collegiate women are at different stages in our college careers, but I think we can all agree that we’ve learned a lot. College means different things to different people. For me, college has been a learning opportunity inside and outside of the classroom. I’ve discovered so much about myself; yet, I know that I will discover so much more. I’ve compiled a list of things that I’ve learned so far. Hope you enjoy loves.

1. College Schedule’s are the Best

When I was in high school, I remember that my college friends told me that they loved their class schedule. Now that I’ve experienced this myself, I 100% agree! Having the ability to create a course schedule that works with your most attentive times of the day. Trust me, this is key. Since I’m not a morning person, I try to avoid 8 a.m. classes. I also love having a three day weekend, so I don’t schedule classes on Fridays. Instead, I focus on working and homework. Regardless of what your internal clock is like, pick courses that you like at times that work best for you.

2. Time Management

If there is one thing that I’ve learned it is to prioritize. I always write down everything in my agenda. I would highly recommend this because it allows you to stay organized. Knowing what you have to do, where you need to be and what you have completed is vital. I’ve noticed that the better prepared you are the more likely you’ll do well in class and in your personal or professional life. If you make the best of your out of class time, then you’ll be able to take the time to have “you” time. Otherwise, you will cram things and likely become incredibly stressed. Make your life easier by taking the time to manage your time wisely.

3. Stay Connected to your Family

Even though you won’t see your family everyday, you’ll notice the impact your family has made on your life. The values my family has instilled in me is forever present in my life at college. Despite your busy life at college, make sure you stay connected to the people who love and care about you. This may be your parents, siblings or people who are not related by blood but just genuine love. You may not be able to be a part of all your family traditions and activities, but you can stay connected to your family in other ways. Make time to call them once a week, or text them everyday. Do not lose your familial ties simply because you’ve gone to college. Your love and their love for you is so much more than that. When you are home, spend time with them.

4. College Friendships are Awesome

When else in your life will you be able to live with, next to or within walking distance of all your closest friends? Welcome to the benefits of living on campus at college. It is incredibly wonderful to live within walking distance to your friends. It makes studying, hanging out and doing fun things together that much easier. If your roommate is also you BFF, then it’s like a never ending sleepover! The friends you make in college are amazing for a number of reasons.

1. You guys are sharing the transition of living at home to living somewhere else.

2. Trying to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life together

3. Learning how to balance school, work, clubs and friend time and

4. Finding yourself. Having great friendships during college will make you happier and feel mentally stronger. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you!

These are just a few of the many things that I have learned while at college. Be grateful for the small things in life!
