What advice do you have for someone flying for the first time?

I hope for your first time you are able to fly with someone you know because having another person there to talk to really does help. If you are by yourself you can still make it through! I always make sure to have gum or a lollipop for take off to help when your ears start popping as you ascend. Make sure you wear or have warm clothes in your carry-on because it can get cold, especially on longer flights. Layers are usually best so you can be comfortable in the airport, on the plane, and once you get to your destination. Also make sure to bring a couple different things to keep yourself occupied. Most planes have WiFi and movie screens now but don’t rely on them because they don’t always work. I usually bring a book, some word puzzles, and a fully charged device so I can listen to music. When it comes to turbulence don’t worry too much about even though it can be very scary. Just take deep breaths and try to keep yourself busy. The worst thing you can do is panic. Landing can also be nerve wracking but again, don’t panic. The pilots are amazing at what they do and wouldn’t be where they are without incredible skill and knowledge, so trust them. If you can lose yourself in a book or movie the flight will be over before you know it! And who knows, maybe the person next to you is flying for the first time too and you can be there for each other.

How do you know the degree you’re seeking is the right choice for you?

I would start by making a pros and cons list for the degree you’re in right now. If there is a secondary option you’re thinking about do the same thing. Then make a list of the type of career paths you’re interested in and what you enjoy doing. Once you’ve done that compare your pros and cons list to what you want to do and like. This way you have a visual and you can see which one aligns better to what you want to do. Personally, I think people are best off when they figure out what they want to do/what makes them happy and then finding a major that matches. This way you’re doing something you love and you will in turn enjoy going to work in the future. Trust your gut. Really listen to what yourself because you probably already know and just need more clarification.

What would you recommend to someone who wants to shop for cute fall clothes without breaking the bank?

Sales! Sales! Sales! That’s how I do all of my shopping. It’s kind of annoying but sign up for emails from the stores you shop at regularly and a couple you go to occasionally. There are places that have really good deals you only get through emails, so I make use of them as often as I can. Shopping online can also be beneficial, not just because you can do it in your pajamas but because often there are online only deals that are actually worth paying for shipping. Consignment shops are also a great place to look! Some of them even give proceeds to various charities or local fundraisers so you can help your community while you shop at super discounted prices.
