Welcome to the Family: Committed Campus Cutie August Dichter!
The second Explore Eckerd was this weekend, and I got a chance to meet some of the awesome prospective students! Down at the waterfront, I met August Dichter from Philadelphia, PA. August has already committed to Eckerd for Class of 2019!
High School: Friends Select HS
What activities are you involved in at your high school?
I’m on the baseball team, in percussion, and theater. I started the art club at my high school. We made a mural in our first year being a club. I’m also in Junior States of America; we talk about current events. I serve as a peer mentor as well.
What’s your favorite part about Eckerd?
The people and the community. It is an accepting unique environment. Eckerd is weird in the best ways. I’m going to have to step it up with the weird game. I can’t wait to come to Eckerd in August.
What do you hope to study at Eckerd?
I hope to study Political Science and/or Creative Writing. I love political satires.
Are you thinking about studying aboard during your time at Eckerd?
I don’t want to miss out on anything on campus. I would like a spring break service trip, or even a winter term. However, I don’t think I will be studying aboard for a whole semester.
What activities do you hope to be involved in on campus?
I want to be in the improv group Another Man’s Trash.I hope to be super involved in the clubs on campus. I have some new ideas for cheesy dog club!
What are you most excited for the next four years?
I’m super excited for the “themed social gatherings” (aka parties)! My high is pretty small and no one really likes to dress up with themes at parties.
What was your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is wherever the action is – I love being around people.
August was also offered a spot in the Honors Program! We can’t wait to have you here as a new triton, welcome to Eckerd College!!
