Ways to make your room fall-ish while being in Florida!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Eckerd chapter.

Being from the Midwest it doesn’t quite feel like fall being in Florida. With the lack of chilly weather, no falling leaves or color change, it can be hard to accept that it is in fact sweater weather in the rest of the country. While it may not seem like its fall outside, there’s no reason why it can’t feel like fall inside your dorm room!  In fact, here are 4 ways you can make it feel like fall in your room!

1.       Sunflowers.

I’m not sure why, but sunflowers just make me think of fall! A handful of the vendors at the Saturday Morning Market in downtown St Pete sell bouquets of them for only $7!  My roomie and I got a bunch of them this past weekend and threw them in a vase! Already the room felt like fall!!

2.       Fake Leaves!

Our RA bought a bunch of fake fall leaves and stuck them all over our dorm doors in our house. It may not sound like much, but it actually made a huge difference! Clip a few more around the room, maybe on some hanging lights and it really does feel a little more like the seasons are changing, plus it adds to some effortless fall decorations! It’s amazing what a few fake red leaves can do!

3.       Air Fresheners.

What’s fall without the fall scents?!  In my room we prefer apple cinnamon, but whatever your preference and favorite fall scent, buy a few air fresheners and sit them around the room! You’ll feel embraced with the scents of fall every time you walk into your room!

4.       Pumpkins!!

It is almost Halloween after all, so what better time than right now to get a pumpkin for your room!  Take it a step further and take part in some roomie bonding while carving the pumpkins! And if you don’t feel like going out and buying a pumpkin, just stop by Campus Activities for Carve or Be Carved on the 30th where they supply the pumpkins. All you need to bring are some awesome carving ideas!
