In the beginning of the week, I came across this wonderful article to help me deal with any type of stress and of course, food is the answer! Exams are coming up and a lot of assignments are due, so stress can sneak up on us! It surely is important that we snack, eat healthy foods, and try to consume less of processed foods. 1.Green, leafy vegetables

Instead of reaching for that greasy burger, why not try some green, leafy vegetables? Recent studies at University of Otago have found that students are more happy, relaxed and energetic when they eat leafy greens. You can always incorporate these delicious vegetables in different types of meals and it does not mean you have to just eat a salad. These vegetables are healthier and will put you in a better mood!

2.Yogurt

Yogurt is a delicious snack to eat! “The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon have anti-inflammatory properties that may help counteract the negative effects of stress hormones,” says Lisa Cimperman, RD, of the University Hospitals Case Medical Center. Students have shown a good 20% of stress/anxiety reduction. Yogurt can be paired with so many sides, granola, nuts, fruits, etc.

3.Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a great substitute to balance out your blood sugar, and can satisfy that sweet tooth craving! When stressed, often we reach out for the sugary snacks, but this would help overcome our cravings. Oatmeal comes in many flavors, so you are sure to find a flavor you would enjoy!

4.Blueberries

Blueberries are one of the many delicious fruits! You can eat them and it would definitely fight of your stress or anxiety levels. I personally love to keep my blueberries in the freezer for a while and eat them frozen! They make a great replacement for any sweet craving I may have.

5.Dark Chocolate

Ah, I saved the last for the best, chocolate! Dark chocolate is a healthier option to regulate the stress levels. “Research has shown that it can reduce your stress hormones, including cortisol,” Sass says. “Also, the antioxidants in cocoa trigger the walls of your blood vessels to relax, lowering blood pressure and improving circulation. And finally, dark chocolate contains unique natural substances that create a sense of euphoria similar to the feeling of being in love!”
