Rainy days in St. Pete

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Eckerd chapter.

With the weather we’ve been having lately, many students have been wondering the same thing: what is there to do on campus when it’s pouring outside?  There are many options, you can either sit around and complain about the lack of sun, or you could get together with and have a fun day filled with rainy day activities!

There are many different options, you can have fun inside, or if you’re feeling brave you can run on outside and enjoy the rainy weather!  For the outside activities if you’re feeling like working out you can go for a run in the rain.  You can also grab some friends and skim boards and go boarding in the impromptu ponds that formed around campus, this also works if you have a group of friends that want to stay dry, they can watch out the window and give scores for the most impressive wipeouts, or farthest trip.  There’s also the classic jumping in puddles- and everyone knows there’s an abundance of those!

For those who don’t want to get wet but still want to have fun there are tons of activities!  Grab a group of friends and a deck of cards and you can pretty much spend a few hours entertained.  You could also have a movie night, or have a Netflix marathon with your favorite shows.   Another possibility is to have a dance party- who needs sunshine to blast some music and jam out with your friends in your room!  If you want to combine all of these activities you can always build a fort in your room and hang out under there, after all we’re never too old to make a fort!!

Although St Pete brags so many sunny days and most of the activities we take part in are outside, always remember you don’t need sunshine to have a good time!!
