Top 5 Things to Do This Greek Ally Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

It’s everyone’s favorite week! Spring break? O-Week? Beach week? No, silly, Greek Ally Week! As someone who is committed to making the Duke community as inclusive as it can be, I’ve put together a quick list of a few great ways you can get involved this week.

1. Go to events!

Seriously, this week is filled to the brim with awesome activities that are open (unless otherwise specified) to everyone, regardless of affiliation. Not only are the programs totally fascinating, but most have free food as an added bonus.

2. Try out the Pinhook. Take a night off from Shooters and come hang out at Durham’s most fabulous venues!  It’s queer inclusive, and you are guaranteed to have a gay old time! Pun intended.

3. Take the time to be well informed. Do you know why our Crazies are rockin’ the rainbow? Do you know how to properly use pronouns like ze/zir? If you don’t, take some time to educate yourself. If you do, also take some time to educate yourself – there’s always more to learn!

4. Give your friends some extra love. Let your friends know that you care about them and will accept them no matter what. You never know who might need to hear it.

5. Continue the conversation! Your commitment to being an ally shouldn’t end after Friday! Keep striving to be the best advocate you can be so we can make our Duke family the best it can be.
