Campus Cutie: Kevin Mutchnick

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.
Name: Kevin Mutchnick

Year: Class of 2018

Major: BME

1. What are you involved in around campus? What’s your favorite thing?

I’m involved in quite a few organizations on campus, such as Outing Club, Tour Guides, BDU,

DSG, and research, but one of my favorites is Marching and Basketball band. It was truly a once-

in-a-lifetime (hopefully four-times-in-a-lifetime…) experience to be flown to the Final Four on

the same plane as the basketball team and cheer them on with the band as they won the National

Championship.

2. What has been your favorite class or professor so far?

Dr. G! He’s a great professor and I really appreciate his efforts to connect to students outside of

the classroom.

3. Any words of wisdom for our freshmen after just completing your first year?

“Take chances, make mistakes, get messy.” –Miss Frizzle

4. Who would you let punch you in the face?

Only Sarah Lee Turner.

5.  How many times does it take for you to listen to a song that you love before you actually hate

it instead?

However many times the radio subjected me to Pharrell Williams’s Happy.

6. Speaking of singing, how would you rate your shower singing on a scale of horrifyingly

terrible (1) to Beyoncé (obvious 10)?

Rebecca Black + 1

7. Guilty pleasure song?

Party in the U.S.A.

8. What one thing do you need most right now?

A nap!

9. Ramps, stairs, escalators, or elevators and why?

This is a loaded question. I prefer not to change elevation.

10. What goes through your mind when you see people leaving the bathroom without washing

their hands?

“If you’re so smart, why are you so sick?”

I am a senior at Duke University studying psychology and history, and I have been writing with Her Campus since I was a freshman. Having this incredible community of empowering women to build me up when I need support and to give me an outlet when I need to vent has been one of the greatest aspects of my Duke career! I am so sad to leave them soon, but I am excited to pursue my J.D. at Georgetown in the fall!
