For passion week, I decided to share one of my poems that I wrote a long time ago. I used to be a passionate singer-songwriter, and I was even a poet beforehand. Now, I am returning to my roots and taking on a new opportunity to be something beyond just who I am in academia by sharing a piece of who I am as a person.
~
I paint the room into a sky,
bright lights cover the moon,
and there was you.
And every color splattered on your
faded face, went away.
A distant memory keeps calling
why can’t you erase?
I paint the room and outline every constellation.
Tracing the stars with a broken heart
to an unknown destination.
I’m fading into your star,
I’m falling into your heart.
I gravitate towards you,
But you don’t want me to.
