What Your Laptop Stickers Say About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

We often use clothing and accessories to express ourselves. Our personalities shine through our choice of hair, makeup and even laptop stickers. You may or may not have considered that your laptop swag was making a statement about your characters. Well, HC at Drexel is here to decode your stickers.

For a cause

If you have messages or symbols about a cause that you’re passionate about on your computer it exhibits that you have heart and will stand up for what you believe. Whether your stickers support a political candidate or breast cancer awareness, your stickers have meaning. You take your laptop swag seriously and you are the kind of person that takes your accessories into careful consideration. You wouldn’t want to send the wrong message about who you are and what you love.

Pink and girly

If you’re rocking pink adhesives, the first thing someone could deduce about you is that you’re a girl’s girl. The messages on my particular pink stickies reflect my feminist ideologies with slogans like, “Sorry, I only date feminists” and “Support your local girl gang” showing that I love equal opportunities for men and women, and am all about female empowerment. I would also like to add that all of these stickers were made by Her Campus and can be purchased in the Her Campus Shop (shameless plug).

Freebies

There are two types of people in the world: the ones who pay for things and the ones who get a thrill from scoring freebies. If most of your stickers flaunt brand logos, it’s obvious that you’re the kind of person who loves opening a package to find free stickers with your purchase. Score! You’re a thrifty, practical person that knows how to stretch a dollar.

Cultural stickers

You know you’re a world traveler if you have stickers from other countries. Your stickers show that you’re worldly and love trying new foods, learning new languages and meeting new people. It’s also possible that your vagabond lifestyle sometimes leads to living out of your suitcase even after you get home or dumping a pile of clothes on the floor. So your stickers may also be arranged in a cluttered way that reflects your messy, but exciting life. (Lindsey T.)

Sorority swag

If you consider yourself “sratty,” you are probably repping your organization’s letters on your laptop. You are proud of your sisters and can generally be found volunteering at a charity event or socializing at date party. Things that sit well with sorority girls may also include anything Vineyard Vines-related or patriotic toward the good ‘ol U.S.A. (Ivy C.)

School pride

If you have your school’s name or mascot on your laptop, you probably have an undying love for your college. You are active on campus whether by attending residence hall events, supporting your team at basketball games, or holding a position in a student organization. Your school is your home away from home, but that’s not to say that you’ve forgotten about your hometown. You may also have stickers that show your pride for your home state or city. (Chandni P.)

Stains

If you have stains on your laptop where there once were stickers, you’re probably a very indecisive person. You couldn’t quite find the right spot, or you got sick of that Hello Kitty sticker because it looked too youthful. Either way, you can’t quite make up your mind. Thank goodness that the adhesive is only temporary! Pro tip: Try rubbing some baby oil on your laptop to get rid of the sticky residue.

Keyboard stickers

If you have keyboard stickers with nothing on your laptop cover, you are probably very mysterious. You’re a hard nut to crack, but once someone gets to know you they realize how awesome you truly are. You’re strictly business outwardly, but once you flip your lid people realize that you are a whole lot to handle (in the best way possible, of course). (Liz B.)

No free space

Your entire laptop is covered in stickers – every inch of your laptop cover and even your keyboard. It’s likely that your personality is larger than life. Your interests are varied and you are always super busy! Every second of your time is almost always accounted for because you fill your life with fun, friends and family.

Minimalist

You are very selective about what you stick on your computer. You only have one or two stickers present, if any, because you’re very neat, organized and mature. Too many stickers makes you feel cluttered, stressed and childish. The stickers that you do decide to commit to are special to you. Take Sarah J., for example, her two cat stickers make it clear that her pets are high up on her priority list.

It’s clear that your choice of accessories can really show off who you are. Put your best laptop forward with stickers that you’re proud of or bare it all by sticking to a sleek, clean look. Tag us in your pictures to show us your laptop swag on Instagram (@hercampusdrexel)!
