Little is more important to a collegiette than her dinner choice during finals week. It needs to be satisfying enough to prevent trips to the vending machine, substantial enough to power an all-night cram session, and tasty enough to make that cute boy two tables over walk by and ask about the order. We’ve provided the best takeout places around campus that are collegiette tested and approved so sit back, relax and prepare to order.
Chinese: Were you expecting anything else to top a list of late night take-out?
Spring Chinese Restaurant
Location: 3739 Lancaster Ave.
Order From: GrubHub, Beyond Menu
Rating: 4.5/5
Delivery Charge: $1
This one is loved by many members on our team, myself included. The prices are reasonable, delivery is just $1 and if your order is more than $15, you can get a free egg roll! Money aside, the quality of food here is as good as you’re going to get for a $5.75 pint of General Tso’s chicken in University City.
New Number One Chinese Restaurant
Location: 4251 Walnut St.
Order From: GrubHub, Beyond Menu
Rating: 4/5
Delivery: $1-$2
Another a crowd favorite, New Number One comes up quite often due to its expansive delivery range. Speediness is one thing you can count on from this joint and the food is always warm. Coupons are also available here if you hit a certain dollar amount on your order so grab a friend or just order enough to feed yourself all week.
Pizza/Wraps/Everything: You know, for when your group can’t decide on what to get.
Ed’s Buffalo Wings & Pizza
Location: 33513 Lancaster Ave.
Order From: GrubHub, Beyond Menu
Rating: 4/5
Delivery charge: $1.50
Before you close your browser or show this article to your friend in disgust that we picked Ed’s over any other pizza joint on campus, please just hear me out. I know pizza is a sacred choice for many and if you prefer PDubbs, that’s fine. However, Ed’s is listed as “the best” because of its expansive menu and consistent quality, no matter what you order. This option is always a default for my friend group if we’re all not craving the same thing but are too lazy to cook for ourselves – something that happens all too often during finals week.
Chain Pizza: For when you’re in the mood for a loyalty program. It’s nice to be appreciated, ok?
Domino’s Pizza
Location: 34438 Chestnut St.
Order From: www.dominos.com
Rating: N/A
Delivery charge: $2.50
Continuing with the pizza mindset, there’s no better deal for college students than Domino’s two or more for $5.99 deal. If you’re ordering for yourself, a medium two-topping pizza and cheesy bread can easily be two meals (if your boyfriend doesn’t steal any), making the “cost per meal” about equal to many of the other local pizza places on campus.
Cheesy Comfort Food: *Insert your own cheesey finals line here* or just wait for your dad to text you one.
Mac Mart
Location: 34438 Chestnut St.
Order From: Caviar
Rating: N/A
Delivery charge: N/A
It doesn’t get much better than a gooey mac n’ cheese bowl for dinner that can also double as a re-heated midnight snack. Mac Mart started out as a beloved food truck near Buckley Field and has since opened its own store front in Rittenhouse. While you need to place your order before 8:30 p.m., the scrumptiousness of their famous mac n’ cheese will surely fuel a long night in the library.
Mexican: Professors may say “cumulative final” but you just hear “cuba libra with lime.”
Wahoo’s Fish Taco
Location: 3180 Chestnut St.
Order From: GrubHub
Rating: 3/5
Delivery charge: $3
That’s right, you can have your beloved drunken taquitos delivered straight to your door or the library any night of the week. Get your order in before 11 p.m. and you can feast on one of their delicious burritos or quesadillas for a good half an hour while pouring over your chemistry notes with a friend. A taco-study-session is better than a no-taco-study-session, obviously.
El Camino Real
Location: 1040 N. 2nd St.
Order From: GrubHub, Caviar
Rating: 4/5
Delivery charge: $3.99
A late-night taco joint serving up traditional Tex-Mex fare for all of central Philly, this is a great alternative to the Chipotle that just opened up under Summit. With great reviews and a wide delivery range, you can’t go wrong ordering from here. If you’re looking to adventure away from classic Tex-Mex enchiladas and Pico de Gallo, they have a kick-a** jalapeño mac n’ cheese that is reportedly the stuff of any foodie’s dreams.
These are just some of the amazing restaurants that are open late and offer delivery services to feed us Drexel students who are struggling during finals week. We’re but a small group of girls who made these recommendations so if you feel like we missed any takeout joints, let us know on Facebook or Twitter!
