I was a little late to the Gossip Girl obsession because I started watching the TV series after they finished.  But the raving reviews are all true. Gossip Girl is not the typical teenage drama, at least it was not for me. Although, some of the story lines fall into the same-old tales, I found more of a personal connection with it. Although, it is a story of love, friendship, and high school life, for me it was primarily a story of fashion and New York.

Fashion has been my obsession and passion since I was in middle school. I still remember the fashion design workbooks that I used to carry around and doodle everywhere. That lasted for a long time but soon I figured out I no longer needed a workbook since I could sketch my own models. Gossip Girl is one of the best TV shows for fashion. The characters’ obsession with fashion triggered a new level of connection between me and the TV series.

New York was another factor for my Gossip Girl obsession. As someone who grew up in New York, but is from Bulgaria, the way the city was portrayed in Gossip Girl made me desperately want to go back to New York, or at least near it, and continue my education there. Fortunately, this dream came true.

Gossip Girl has its ups and downs but the show was more than that for me because I connected with their world of fashion and their love for New York City.
