My Visit To Washington, D.C

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DESU chapter.

Transition of the USA

Washington D.C. had transitioned before my eyes since I had recently taken a dormitory trip there.  As of eight years ago, there was a few monuments that I had visited such as the Lincoln Memorial, George Washington memorial, WWII memorial, and etc.  The memorial that caught my eye was the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial with its many quotes, significance in the structure of the memorial, and its purpose of facing the Andrew Jackson memorial.  We had started with a walking tour which I was able to get a glimpse of the white house for the first time, but from a birds eye view.  Then we had taken a lunch break at U-Street which is known for its historical significance in the African American community.  Lastly we were given an hour in a half to walk through the many Smithsonian Museums in groups.  Based on this experience I had learned that America is still building and along with wanting to remind us of our past and there is always something new.
