Sorority Girl DePAUWblems: “It’s Football season…and Freshman season?”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Cougars. It’s time to prowl; the freshman boys have been released from their South Quad cages. But then again get out your claws, the freshman girls have begun to prey on the Frats.

What better weekend to welcome the class of 2015 than our very first football tailgate. This past weekend people saw what Greek fans were all about, supporting our tigers with corn hole, a Southern Tide beer pong competition, loud music, and raging with parents all while wearing a robe, camo and a blonde wig (ATO you know who you are).

While the fraternity scene may have seemed like a herd of grinding, inebriated cats, we found that it’s not all bad. Now we can actually get to know the freshmen on a personal level instead of awkwardly stalking them on facebook. Being seniors, we can definitely appreciate seeing new faces all around the Greek scene. Compared to past years, the newly-released freshmen did a great job at raging in true Tiger fashion. No hospital runs, no public safety issues, and no major nudity. All in all, it was a successful first night. Freshmen—welcome to the big leagues.

With only three home tailgates this year, we seniors promise to be more obnoxiously enthusiastic than every chapter’s recruitment chair…combined. Considering this is our last DePauw fall, don’t be surprised if you see us throwing tailgates for club sports and IMs. Tailgating sort of loses its flavor once Christmas decorations start going up so we are trying to pack in as much as we can. But hey more the merrier, so grab your favorite coozie and meet us at Blackstock!
