With the slowly emerging fraturdays and darties, formals and informals, also come with midterms. As we (finally…hopefully?) head into spring, there’s no better way to refocus your mind than a solid fitness class like Pilates.

PILATES

Times: Mondays at 5:30 pm and Fridays at 11:40 am

Location: Lilly Center Dance Room

Fitness Level: 2

The Pilates class was a surprisingly good workout – I could feel my legs engaged for nearly the entire class, and I had to incorporate a lot more core work to balance myself – even more than I utilized in yoga. However, the majority of my soreness the next day (and the day after) was primarily due to choosing weights that may or may not have been a pound or so too heavy for me…

I incorporated 30 minutes of cardio before Pilates to give myself a well-rounded workout to kick off the weekend, since it really is more of a toning-based class. And a helpful tip: pace yourself. You’ll be doing lots of reps, so when in doubt, aim for the lighter weights and take your time with each move. You’ll leave the class with just the right amount of tenderness to signify a great workout.
